The Emporia Public Library provides the following resources:
Find the item you are looking for in the catalog. The catalog contains more than the physical items; Sunflower eLibrary, Project Gutenberg, and Librivox have been integrated into the system to provide one place to find both our digital and physical collections.
From eBooks to databases, many resources are available for patrons. Some online resources require a State of Kansas Library Card, which is available at the Public Services Desk.
The library's collection of local newspapers on microfilm, indexes, directories, and other resources are available for researchers. The library staff is available to help locate library resources available for research.
A gift of Dr. Laurence and Betty Boylan, the Emporia Public Library provides three rooms for private reading and study, small group tutoring, and small meetings. These rooms are available to the public. One of the rooms is available on a first-come, first-serve walk-in basis. Two of the rooms may be reserved up to one month in advance.
Public Meeting Rooms
The Emporia Public Library has two meeting rooms available for the public. We do not charge for the use of the rooms. The rooms are to be used for not-for-profit groups. The purpose of the meeting should be to inform, not to sell or make money, therefore, the meeting must be open to the public and attendees must not be assessed a fee. The rooms must be booked in advance.
Public Computers & Wi-Fi Access
The Emporia Public Library offers free computer access to users of all ages and Wi-Fi access throughout the building. We have 17 computers for general public use, 6 computers in the Young Adult Area, and 4 computers in the Children’s Room. Sessions are 60 minutes and computers have printing capabilities. In addition, the Children's Room is equipped with an AWE Early Literacy Station (ELS) and 3 iPads preloaded with programs for children.
