The Emporia Public Library provides the following services:
Get a Library Card
Emporia Public Library cards are free to all Kansas residents with proof of current residency (see Circulation Policy for details). Patrons age 17 and under will be required to obtain the signature of a parent or legal guardian to obtain a card. Parents/legal guardians are responsible for materials checked out on their child's card and the information accessed on computer workstations.
Copy, Fax, and Scan
Copy, fax, and scan self-service stations are available on the second floor. The fax kiosk accepts credit cards. If you do not have a credit card for the fax machine, you may purchase a special fax card from the service desk.
If you are physically unable to visit the library due to a medical condition or disability, we offer Homebound delivery if you live within Emporia city limits. Deliveries are made the first Thursday of every month and by arrangement.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a free service offered by Emporia Public Library to obtain materials that are not owned by EPL but are available in other libraries. Any patron can use ILL if he or she has a current library card in good standing.
Proctoring is available Monday through Friday (by appointment) on the second floor of the library. Please call or email at least two days in advance to schedule an appointment for a proctor. The proctoring fee is $20.
Free computer classes are available to the public through the Technology Simplified program at the Emporia Public Library. Class sessions are 90 minutes long. One-on-one tutoring for basic computer software and mobile devices is available throughout the year. Tutoring sessions are generally 30 minutes long. You can also learn new skills at your own pace through GCF LearnFree.org or the State of Kansas Library offering of Universal Class and Learning Express.
3D printing is available to the public. Design or download a model in .stl or .obj formats to print at the library. Most objects will be printed within a few days after submission, but there may be times that the printer is malfunctioning, being repaired, experiencing heavy use, or being used for an event or a class. You will be contacted when your object has finished printing.
